Abiwin is a not-for-profit co-op that provides safe and affordable housing to a diverse membership while furthering co-operative principles and the betterment of society

Algonquin for "dwelling"

We acknowledge that the land on which we dwell is the traditional unceded territory of the Anishnaabeg Algonquin

Abiwin was founded by a group of LGBTQ2+ members in the 80s to provide safe and secure housing for the gay & queer community, along with other minoritized groups.

Abiwin continues to prioritize those in need of safe housing for membership today.

Our unique housing cooperative consists of four renovated heritage buildings, three infill apartment buildings, and a six-story mid-rise building in the heart of Centretown.

We are not currently accepting new applications for members.
